Caravan or cottage: which accommodation for your holidays?

7 min read

When booking a stay at Domaine de la Trille, the question arises: caravan or cottage? Both options have their advantages depending on your profile, the length of your stay and the season. Here is a comparison to help you choose.

The caravans: the unusual experience

The four caravans at the Domaine (Rouge, Bleue, Verte, Jaune) are small wooden houses on wheels. Each one has a bedroom with a double bed (160x200), a living area with a fully equipped kitchen (fridge, hob, coffee maker, kettle), a bathroom with shower and toilet, and a balcony with garden furniture.

  • Capacity: 2 to 4 people
  • Space: optimised, everything within easy reach
  • Atmosphere: unusual accommodation, a real change of scene
  • Outside: private balcony with garden furniture
  • Amenities: WiFi, heating, bed linen provided

The cottages: space and classic comfort

The two cottages, Les Roses (60 m²) and Les Iris (57 m²), are fully renovated apartments. They have a bright living room with an open, fully equipped kitchen, a separate bedroom, a bathroom and a private terrace.

  • Capacity: 2 to 4 people
  • Space: 57 to 60 m², separate living room and bedroom
  • Atmosphere: classic, comfortable apartment
  • Outside: private terrace
  • Amenities: WiFi, heating, bed linen provided

Comparison by profile

  • Couple on a short break (2-3 nights) → Caravan: the unusual factor is the whole point
  • Family with young children → Cottage: more space, separate bedroom for putting children to bed
  • Long stay (1 week or more) → Cottage: the extra space really matters over time
  • Remote working → Cottage: the large living room table makes a good desk
  • Tight budget → The rate is the same (from 90€/night), so it comes down to preference
  • Craving something different → Caravan: sleeping in a caravan is not something you do every day
  • Winter stay → Both are heated, but the cottage offers more indoor space

What they have in common

Caravan or cottage, you enjoy the same setting: the 240-hectare farm of Domaine de la Trille, views of the Pyrenees, WiFi, heating, bed linen, and the freedom to walk across the estate. The base rate is identical: from 90€/night, with a 20% discount from 3 nights onwards. Minimum stay: 2 nights.

Tip: if you are coming as several couples or as an extended family, combine caravans and cottages. The Domaine can accommodate up to 24 people simultaneously (4 caravans + 2 cottages).
