Ax-les-Thermes: 80 hot springs
Ax-les-Thermes is the flagship spa resort of the Ariège Pyrenees. With 80 natural sulphurous springs at temperatures ranging from 18°C to 78°C, it is one of the richest sites in Europe. The Bassin des Ladres, right in the town centre, is free to access: you can soak your feet in 36°C water, outdoors, at any hour. For a more complete experience, the Bains du Couloubret offers indoor and outdoor pools, jacuzzis, hammam and treatments over an area of 3,000 m².

Aulus-les-Bains: mountain spa
More discreet, Aulus-les-Bains is nestled in the Garbet valley at the foot of high peaks. Its waters are renowned for treating metabolic and urinary conditions. The thermal establishment has been renovated and offers a more intimate setting than Ax-les-Thermes. The Cascade d'Ars, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Ariège, is accessible via a 2-hour hike from the village — perfect for combining spa and nature.
Ussat-les-Bains: tranquil waters
Ussat-les-Bains, between Tarascon-sur-Ariège and Ax-les-Thermes, specialises in neurological and psychosomatic treatments. Its setting is the most peaceful of the three resorts. The Lombrives caves, among the largest in Europe, are just minutes away — a spectacular underground visit that rounds off a spa day perfectly.
