Ussat-les-Bains: Thermalism in the Ariège Gorges

Less well known than its neighbour, Ussat-les-Bains (in the commune of Ornolac) is a strikingly beautiful thermal town nestled in the Ariège gorges between Foix and Tarascon. The resort, which closed at the end of the 20th century, has been partially rehabilitated. Its Belle Époque thermal architecture evokes a glorious past, and renovation work is ongoing. About 40 min from the Domaine.

Close to Ussat, the Lombrives caves are directly connected to the historic baths via natural galleries. These vast caves served as a refuge for the Cathars in the 13th century. The visit combines natural heritage, history and thermalism: a unique trilogy in Ariège.
