Hautes-Pyrénées: for high-altitude mountains

If your sights are set on 3,000-metre peaks, the Cirque de Gavarnie or the Pic du Midi, the Hautes-Pyrénées are the right choice. Accommodation is pricier and busier, especially around Cauterets and Lourdes. Expect 120 to 200 € per night for a decent gîte in high season.
