Autumn in Ariege Pyrenees
Blazing forests, wild mushroom foraging and the Apple Festival: autumn in Ariege is a season of pure delight. Caravans and cottages in the heart of a 240-hectare farm, about 1 hour from Toulouse.
Autumn colours and wild mushroom foraging
Autumn transforms the forests of Ariege into a blaze of colour. The beech woods, oak forests and mountain woodlands dress in gold, copper and crimson, offering landscapes of stunning beauty.
It is also mushroom season: ceps, chanterelles and horn of plenty mushrooms abound in the Ariege woodlands. The autumn markets of Mirepoix (about 5 minutes from the Domaine) are brimming with these local treasures.
From your caravan or cottage, enjoy misty mornings over the meadows and golden afternoon light on the Pyrenees.

Hiking and the Apple Festival
Autumn offers ideal temperatures for hiking in the Ariege Pyrenees. Without the summer heat, the trails are a renewed pleasure. The panoramic views of snow-capped peaks and colourful valleys are exceptional.
In October, the famous Mirepoix Apple Festival (about 5 minutes from the Domaine) brings together producers and visitors around hundreds of heritage apple varieties. A convivial, food-loving event not to be missed.
The autumn markets offer seasonal produce: mushrooms, chestnuts, walnuts, honey and mountain cheeses. Authentic gastronomy to savour in the warm setting of your accommodation.
