Spring in Ariege Pyrenees

Blossoms and farm life

In spring, Domaine de la Trille comes alive. The 240 hectares of meadows are covered in wildflowers and the calves of our Limousin cattle frolic in the fields. A natural spectacle that delights visitors of all ages.

The Pyrenean foothills offer mild and pleasant temperatures, ideal for enjoying your terrace and watching nature reclaim its realm. The days grow longer and the evenings are peaceful.

This is the perfect season to discover our HVE Level 3 certified farm, labelled Bienvenue a la Ferme, in a verdant and authentic setting.

First hikes at altitude

Spring marks the return of high-altitude hiking in the Ariege Pyrenees. The foothill trails are accessible from April, while mid-mountain routes gradually open as the snow melts.

Lake Montbel (about 20 minutes away) offers beautiful walks along its shores, in a green and still-uncrowded setting. The hills around Mirepoix are full of marked trails for the whole family.

The spring markets of Mirepoix (about 5 minutes from the Domaine) are the perfect opportunity to taste the first seasonal produce: asparagus, strawberries and mountain cheeses.

Cathar castles and character villages

Spring offers ideal temperatures for visiting Cathar castles and strolling through the medieval villages of Ariege.

Montsegur - Ariege

Cathar castles

Montsegur, Roquefixade, Puivert, Usson... Spring temperatures are perfect for climbing to the Cathar citadels and enjoying clear panoramic views over the still snow-capped Pyrenees.

Medieval villages
